22-250 Ballistics: Factory Loads

Recommended Posts

those who use factory loads with their 22-250, what have you found out on bullet drop down range? What brand of lead are you using?

I plan on getting a scope within a couple of weeks with the 4-plex reticle and would like to have an idea.

there are websites that have calculators that will do that for you. My burris with a ballistic plex is based on the average drop for the bullet weight and FPS it comes out of the barrel. Most if not all ammo manufacturers have a HSOforum that will tell the avg. fps second and what the drop is with a 100yd zero and a 200 yd. zero. I would start with that first and look up that information on the manufacturers HSOforum....

I got a Tika 22-250 with a leupold vari x iii 6-20 x40m with the varmit reticals in it. With 65 grain remington shells. I sighted it in at 200 and its just about no different at 100 yrds. I have not had the time go go set up for longer shots to figure ot how much drop. But Last winter I shot a yote at 374yrds and I cant remember if I used the 2nd line are the 3rd. Hopefully I get a nice day so I can go play around with it before it gets to cold.

Hot Spot, you should try a smaller grain like something in the 50-55 grain, because your gun(same as mine)does not have enough twist to stabalize a 60 or 65 grain bullet. Try a smaller grain and you will see the difference on paper.

With a 55 grain federal sp at 300 yds it will drop around 7". That is zeroed at 200.
