Anybody building their own trail cams out there?

Recommended Posts

Was wondering if anybody if building their own trail cams? I am looking at trying my first one (white flash) this winter. Was wondering what cameras you've modified (make/model) and your success with it. Also I looking to see if anybody has played with doing an IR. Obviously IR doesn't effect bucks like white flash does. Also any websites that you thought were good, I've already looking at the Yeti Cam and a few others.

Why am I doing this you ask, well the pics seem to be crisper than some of the digital trail cams, cost is a bit cheaper, sensitivity, etc

Any help would be good

Haven't done this myself, but here in Duluth our local outdoor columnest, Sam Cook, often posts trail cam photos from a fellow in Cloquet who builds his own. I'm always a bit leary of posting any contact information, but if you are willing to do an online search for Duluth News and Tribunes Sam Cook or Northland Outdoors I'll bet you'll find some more information on this Cloquet guy. I just saw a post of a picture of him in his workshop building trail cameras I think it may have been in Sam's Northland Outdoors Blog.
