tylor
So this is kind of a shot in the dark, but I have been looking for some land to purchase that could serve as a duck camp reasonably close to the metro area. Found a guy offering a small piece on Wakanda near Willmar - just wondering if anyone has any knowledge of this lake? Worth going to take a look at the property if waterfowl hunting would be a top priority? Tough to get a feel from the DNR site and not really looking to waste my time driving and his time showing me the piece if its a definite no go for ducks and geese. Thanks. chub
The lake is a resting area. No motors allowed. There's not much for good hunting areas on the lake itself either. There is a battle of sorts being waged at the moment over the aeration system and cleaning up the water in the lake as well as the whole watershed down there. If they get it done, the lake will hold birds. Getting the Grass lake project done and ridding the lake of carp is the key.
jigginjim
For carp removal to it is too bad a carp shooting league could not be formed. That lake is the target lake. Maybe even a carp fishing tourney. Carp are a goog fight onthe end of a line.

Lake Oliver in western minnesota is a prime example of this. carp tourney will fill a gravity box full of big fish every summer, plus the occasional commercial netting, and there are still waaaaaay too many carp in the lake. RumRiverRat
There are other lakes in that area that can be fantastic when the push of divers comes down.
