Chickens

Son and I each took a nice prairie chicken today. Hunted hard (whole lot of walking) but the weather was not prairie grousey. Clouds, cool, and windy ... blahhhh

As expected we walked much and found one big flock of 30+ birds. I was pulling on one nice bird when it folded in front of me ... young son had his first chicken!!!!!!!!!!

I picked up a straggler.

Decided that was enough ... mission complete.

The number of permits issued in the area we hunted was higher than when I took birds 3 - 4 years ago. DNR needs to go back to lower number of permits to keep hunt quality at a higher level....

Our group did good this weekend. Thank you for emailing me earlier but I never got back to you.

We seen approximately 75 birds the first day and 25 the second day. Between three of us we got our 6 birds. Hopefully I will have pics to follow.
