Fall Fishing

I am embarrassed to say, will all the fishing I do and all, that I don't know if I have ever fished in October!

Well I am going to be up north hunting this weekend (ahh there is the reason I don't fish in October) and thought about grabbing the portable depth finder and a fishing pole.

Jig and a minnow work ok?

I am guessing the walleyes have moved a little shallow?

Jig/minnow is the ticket. I do well this time of year on jig/fathead. Usually fish the river, but when lake fishing I like to fish from the first break on in. Good luck. I'm sure someone more skilled in lake fishing will chime in.

Yes a jig and a minnow will work. If the lake has turned over the fish could be anywhere from shallow to deep. We found fish last weekend anywhere from 11'-40'. Fish the shallows when it's getting dark. Good luck.

A few buddies and I just fished the river on tuesday. all used bright yellow/orange jigs with minnows and caught around 20 fish from 9'-13' feet.
