Browning A-5 plug?

Posted this elsewhere too, but I need the length of the wooden plug for an A-5 Browning to reduce it to three shells. Starting with the right length will sure make it easier for me to make one today. Thanks.

Wouldn't it work to lay three 3" shells down and go with that length? Or three 2 3/4's depending on... .

Yes it would Chub. Only an old fart who hasn't had enough coffee at the early hour would have to post such a question! Jeeze. I guess its the messing around with one of these newfangled auto guns when I've spent 60 years shooting doubles that has my mind acting up.

I'll try to do better in the future. Or as much future as I have. HA!!

It may be too early for me too but that doesn't sound right. If you measure three shells and make the plug that long, wouldn't that only leave room for one shell in the mag? Most shotguns have a four round mag.

You might be right Duckster but in my case its academic since I am only going to load two anyway; one in the chamber and the other in the magazine. I've only had two barrels all these years and I have SELDOM seen anybody make a solid, killing shot on their third try. Its not like I need a PILE of ducks. Mainly going so my favorite little girl can get out there in the muck and mire and have some fun. I've never seen a young dog so absolutely crazy about hunting!!

i toss a pencil in my 870 and cut down till it works with 2 3/4 and 3" shells...
