HOT SPOT
This years opener we hunted a WPA and we were the first people on the entire thing. By 800 am we had a group strait up wind of us about 150 yrds on one side of the island and another group about 100 yards on the other side of us. We had 3 ppl on each side.It really mad me mad because I got out their at 4 am and some smucks think they can walk in and set up right in are shooting area.(According to wind) And then after we carefully shoot the first flock we got are a$$ed chewed because we peppered them. What would have you boys done.
chub
I would have had words with them, more than likely not so friendly words, and if that didn't work, I would have seen to it that none of them had an opportunity to shoot a duck. Much of the time by default, when parties are sitting on top of one another, no ones going get much anyway. In some places, 100-150 yards is a long ways away. Not that I like it any more, but I've seen people set up MUCH closer than that to one another.Unfortunately, that's waterfowl hunting on public land in MN. I would guess most of the people just don't know any better, a few of them.....just don't care. Seems to me that it's gotten worse over the years, but maybe it's just because I'm older now and I see it more. There have been lakes and areas that have always drawn out the gomers in force, but with the terrible duck numbers and dwindling flights through the state, if there's birds around and your going into a public area, odds are good your gonna run into it. HOT SPOT
ya it was funny when the one group that got ot there at 730 I could hear him trying to make it sound like they hunted it all the time and he goes "Ya this is the point we hunted last year" the funny thing was there was no water in it last year the DNR drained it to get rid of the bait fish. I cant believe I didnt go say something, If i didnt have a hug blister on my foot I think I would of went and said something but oh well
Buckcountry
How about everyone quits thier childish whinning, we drop this pointless topic, afterall it's friday, we should be packing and hitting the pond or woods! If you see a duck shoot the darn thing and just hope you hit it, who cares if it's flying or swimming, everyone hunts differently. Who would whine or complain on a friday anyhow? HOT SPOT
My o2. I can’t stand people that are so lazy that think that they can do whatever they want.First, Yes if its public land /access they have a right to go on it. If you are going to go on it, and you want to hunt near someone’s land / house ask them. If they say no go to a different spot. You don’t need to be a [PoorWordUsage] and try to cut them off are hunt that close to them. PPL that do that GROW UP. ISecond, Just because its public doesn’t mean that you can go set up any where its common courtesy if you wanted that sport / area get your a$$ up earlier and go get it, are get a second job and go buy / lease your own land.Third, Hunting is a privilege not a right. Some people might go out with a gun and shells while others might have the whole shebang. Either way treat other hunters how you would want to be treated. Give them a respectful amount of room, and pay attention to whats flying if they have a flock birds working them don’t go sky blast at something. Give courtesy to other hunters and maybe you will get some back.
Musky Buck
My memories of the good old days are good enough. I'm done with all of this, what is there like 5 weekends of duck hunting before deer season. I just got tired of getting up so early to claim an area only to have others rain on the parade, I always wished I was still in bed, now I am. What's this cold weather going to do to things ? Not hearing much on a warm up. Good Luck hunting and heres to hoping you have a fun safe hunt. Got some honkers lined up for tomorrow, sleeping in will have to wait.
