Lake of the Woods vs. Lake Vermilion

I have been muskie fishing on vermilion multiple times, love the lake, amazing veiws, great action. I have never been to lake of the woods.

I am considering a few trips to Lake of the woods. I am intersted in oppinions from people that have fished both lakes. Which lake would you fish if you had the option to go tomorrow and why?

Thanks in advance for any info.

Lake of the Woods does not even compare to Vermilion. LOW has more numbers, but you probably have less of a chance at a 55"+. The fish at LOW are not nearly as pressured like Vermilion and so you can fish during the day. A lot more peaceful on LOW as you might not see another boat all day, whereas on Vermilion you often are competing for spots. Blows my mind people choose Vermilion over LOW for a trip.

Without question LOTW!!!!!! You simply have in front of you the greatest musky lake in the world. How many spots do you think there are on Vermillion to fish? Multiply that by, maybe 100, and you have LOTW. I have fished for entire days (13-15 hours) and never seen another boat. You have a variety of different water types and structures you can fish. Clear trout water in Whitefish, stained water down in Sab, in between water around the Big Narrows. Don't get me wrong, Vermillion is itself and incredible fishery and holds some truly great fish. But for the quiet beauty of fishing heaven on earth, LOTW is the only place to go!!!

LOW hands down. Remember LOW has a 54 inch minimum so there is virtually no harvest. For solitude, wilderness feeling, plus lots of action with a chance of a big fish you can't beat LOW. With that being said there are parts of the lake that can get busy especially during July. NW Angle and Sab bay being a couple but they are in now way as busy as Vermilion in July.
