Hound heater

Recommended Posts

My outdoor lab is getting a bit older and I want to keep her warm as best possible. She has a very well insulated house and its filled with swamp grass but have decided that this year she is going to have a hound heater in there as well. Question is what temp should it be set at? the thermastat goes down to 32 degrees and I am thinking that should be more than enough. anybody else using one? If so what temp do you set it at? I dont want to turn her house into a sauna...

I have a yellow lab that sleeps in the house. I got a hound heater last year for when he's outside in the kennel. When I had it set around 35 it would never run unless really cold. I bumped it up to mid 40's so I would feel like I'm getting my moneys worth. I am sure my dog likes the extra heat.

32 sounds cold to me. Especially if your girl is getting older. I know that as I get older, that I like to be a little warmer. I'd say at least mid 40's. I have a small electric heater from Menards in the enclosed 4x8x4 area that I have inside my garage and I keep it at 65 degrees.
