Do they take cutbait? I thought I seen the guy on river monsters use that for alligator gar...guessing it'd work for long and short noses as well?

Gar love cutbait. They are just plain tough to hook sometimes. We even had one attempt to tackle a bullhead the other night. The thing was latched down on the bullie and let go at the last minute before my buddy could sling it on shore.

Yeah. Their snout is bony, which makes it hard to set the hook. I've been sight fishin them lately. Once they take the bait, I'll let them keep it for a few seconds before I yank. Just trying to make sure it's fully in his mouth. Plus, I'll give her a good little yank.

the best eatin fish you can find take a tip snips to the back slice em to the tail and u got a super nice fillet of pour mans lobster i got a 100 pounder out of the rio grande in texas and the guy i went with was the world record holder for a few years 235 i think??? crazyest fish/hunt u will ever do! and then throw them scales in the woods 4 a year and when you come back they turn into a hard arrow head like bone preety sweet! make a necklace or somethin
