2002 Grand Am GT power window problem

Recommended Posts

on Jr's car the passenger window motor seems to be losing it. The window is slow and more importantly it stops about 1/4 to 1/2" from closing all the way. You can then push it up by hand which i'm not sure you should be able to do either... Is it the motor? How hard is it to replace? Is this a mechanic repair or a body shop repair or can I do it?

Thanks!

Bodyshop or mechanic can handle this repair. Motors are available as well as complete regulator assy at most parts stores for a lot less than at the dealer. I would not recommend used unless it is a last option. As a DIY repair I would give it a 5 out of ten for diffeculty. Will require a couple special tools and some knowlege of removing the door panel without breaking anything as well as getting the regulator out and putting it back in again. A good tech can do this repair in an hour or less.

Common problem with the Grand Am GT. It is a plastic piece that is glued to the window that is giving way, eventually it will break and the window comes crashing down. I had to go to the body shop to have this problem fixed. My brother in law had the same problem with his.

Another common problem is the blinker will keep making noise in the dash. Do you have that problem yet?
