So what's the real story here? Has Nature vision bought them out? Are the marcums going to still be built? ARe they changing, or just going away completely? How about the showdown? I"ve heard they are having a software update this year. I've e-mailed nature vision to ask them about it and i've had no responses. WHAT'S UP!

To our MarCum Technologies and ShowDown Digital Fish Finder partners and friends:

Minneapolis, MN – Electronic Technologies, LLC, d/b/a Versa Electronics, a Minnesota limited liability company, is pleased to announce, effective immediately, the acquisition of the assets of MarCum Technologies and ShowDown brands, including inventory, tooling, intellectual property and designs formerly owned by Nature Vision, Inc.

Versa Electronics has been manufacturing the MarCum product line for the past 3 years.

so what's the story..

Nothing changed... Vexes are still made in Japan. shockedlaugh

Minnesotans hard at work generating top of line ice fishing sytems at an affordable price.

MarCum is in this for the long haul, Versa Electronics is a flexible company that has been meeting maufacturers needs for 50 years. For the past 3 years we have been more than happy with the product they have built for us so much so I was extremely happy to hear the good news that we stayed within the MarCum family. grin I have no doubt this acquisition will make us stronger. Versa does a lot of work as well outside the fishing industry and you have to have that type of flexibilty to go forward in this tough economy. I can't wait to get started on the new campaign...

Look for MarCum's to be available in November...

Glad to hear that Marcum is here for the long haul, I myself was worried about their plans as well. I own Marcum flashers and will always stay with them, don't get me wrong Vexilar makes a good flasher too but Marcum is still ahead of them in technology for sure.

I would really like to see some work put into the Showdown. I really like the concept, but it just doesn't have the sensitivity to pick up small jigs. Especially when near other flashers. interference is too great and if you crank up the interference suppression, you lose sensitivity. I love using the unit when i'm by myself. Fun to use. But it definately needs some noise and sensitivity work.

so let me know if I understand this right? Nature Vision buys out Marcum last year? and now they spin them off to another company? Versa Electronics?

I'm glad at least its a MN Company, and I am a marcum user, I just hadn't heard anything about this until right now, and wanted to clarify to make sure I understood it right.

I would not say "nothing changed". That is way too simple of an answer. There was a reason why Nature Vision wasn't successful with Marcum or its other prodyucts. I don't think any of us will know that reason(s) is. The problem could have been financial, operational, related to marketing or possibly their to cost structure.

There certainly was some type of issue that needs to be fixed for this to be a successful venture going forward.

I certainly hope that the new owners have great sucess going forward. Marcum has really good products.

However there is no guarantee of success just because Marcum's assets and products etc. were bought but the subcontractor who made the products on behalf of Marcum. Versa Electronics is an electronic subcontracting company. Time will tell if they will be able to successfully design, market and sell new products. They obviously know how to manufacture them.

Lets hope they are successful. Competition drives innovation and we all get better products because of it.

Caveat Emptor....

  • Your Responses - Share & Have Fun :)

    • By The way that didn't work either!! Screw it I'll just use the cellular.
    • It’s done automatically.  You might need an actual person to clear that log in stuff up.   Trash your laptop history if you haven’t tried that already.
    • 😂 yea pretty amazing how b o o b i e s gets flagged, but they can't respond or tell me why I  can't get logged in here on my laptop but I can on my cellular  😪
    • I grilled some brats yesterday, maybe next weekend will the next round...
    • You got word censored cuz you said        B o o b ies….. haha.   Yeah, no… grilling is on hiatus for a bit.
    • Chicken mine,  melded in Mccormick poultry seasoning for 24 hours.  Grill will get a break till the frigid temps go away!
    • we had some nice weather yesterday and this conundrum was driving me crazy  so I drove up to the house to take another look. I got a bunch of goodies via ups yesterday (cables,  winch ratchet parts, handles, leaf springs etc).   I wanted to make sure the new leaf springs I got fit. I got everything laid out and ready to go. Will be busy this weekend with kids stuff and too cold to fish anyway, but I will try to get back up there again next weekend and get it done. I don't think it will be bad once I get it lifted up.    For anyone in the google verse, the leaf springs are 4 leafs and measure 25 1/4" eye  to eye per Yetti. I didnt want to pay their markup so just got something else comparable rated for the same weight.   I am a first time wheel house owner, this is all new to me. My house didn't come with any handles for the rear cables? I was told this week by someone in the industry that cordless drills do not have enough brake to lower it slow enough and it can damage the cables and the ratchets in the winches.  I put on a handle last night and it is 100% better than using a drill, unfortatenly I found out the hard way lol and will only use the ICNutz to raise the house now.
    • I haven’t done any leaf springs for a long time and I can’t completely see the connections in your pics BUT I I’d be rounding up: PB Blaster, torch, 3 lb hammer, chisel, cut off tool, breaker bar, Jack stands or blocks.   This kind of stuff usually isn’t the easiest.   I would think you would be able to get at what you need by keeping the house up with Jack stands and getting the pressure off that suspension, then attack the hardware.  But again, I don’t feel like I can see everything going on there.
