Full moons

The book I'm reading right now, Successful Wallleye Fishing, states that scientist believe that lunar phase has little to no effect on walleye fishing. It claims that any difference most people notice is at night when the difference in moonlight is valid. The biggest factor on feeding habits of walleyes is light, so a full/new moon may affect night bite. What your experiencing could be that walleyes are staying deeper at night during the full moon due to the light and staying deeper and less active during those days to since they aren't doing there normal feeding pattern. It does say that larger walleye are more likely to be effected by lunar phase because the feed less freaquently.

I did'nt believe in moon phases much. I don't fish at night so no data there, but I do keep logs of every trip. Other species of fish,do not apply, does'nt seem to matter. But walleyes were very obvious in better numbers for the new moon, ( last couple years, at least).

Oh well, i'll just keep trying.

Thanks

I am an almost exclusive night fisherman. Reason being walleyes(big walleyes) feed at night, and I mean BIG walleyes. not so much during the summer, but that is why you hear so much of the Oct. full moon. All fish feed better when the moon is directly overhead. This is why the new moon fase is better during the day. I find that the fishing is way better three or two days before the full moon at night or the new moon during the day. reason being is... the fish can feel the effects of the the moon, so on the night of the full(or new) they have already been feeding heavily for two or three days. ALWAYS REMEMBER LOCAL WEATHER PATTERNS OVER RIDE THIS SCENARIO.
