I Have The "Where is Summer Blues"

Rig your rods, re-spool your reels, clean and sort your tackle box, get your batterys charged and hope for warmer day.

Good fishing,

I thought about doing all those things - looked out the window and decided I would rather do it outside in the sun. Maybe next weekend! But did get the battery charged. That is good - right?

Hey HtchEyeCatcher
We did not get enough for a snowman - thank goodness. But it snowed and melted all day and it is freezing here today. Poor little robins are thinking they came back way too early!

Hi Phyl,

It has been a cold spring. I keep telling myself that is is just doing this until we get done with our big move cause if it was to nice out I'd want to be up at the camper fishing and not here. We got all the hard wood floors redone and it took us a whole week to do them but they are sure pretty. Now we have to let them dry for 72 hours and we can move in. Hope to be done this coming weekend so after that the weather will warm up. Well it better any way cause I'll be headed to the lake to do some long over due fishing. How about you have you got out at all yet?

Hi Mary: No we have not gone out yet. It has been so cold here I think the fish are home knitting sweaters! We both sat around the house and pouted all weekend because it was so cold and wet. I have flower beds I want to Roundup and put plastic over before opener but I can't get it done. We did finally get our boat over to the tuneup guy so hopefully he will get it done by opener. He use to work for a boat store locally and became a fireman and has now built a shop so he can work on boats at home on his days off. I have been after him bad enough that it looks like mine is first in line anyway!

I'll bet your floors are beautiful. Lucky you a clean and shiny house to move into before opener. My daughter had last weekend off and wanted to clean her camper and get it ready but of course that did not happen either. Be careful and don't scratch those floors when you move in. Hope the move goes well.

Just watched the weather report for next week. Chance of rain every day and the bad four letter word that starts with an S (I refuse to even use it on the 2nd week in May) for Wed. Enough already! So does everyone have their down filled snow suits ready for the opener?

I remember 3 years ago when it snowed on opener.

Think positive. The weather will be nice.

Weather people aren't always right.

    • As a recovering machinist, I can appreciate that.  If the spec is 0.001 - 0.0015, then clearly the correct measurement is 0.00125, duh…
    • I just figured that it is easy enough to just get a 3 bank so when the boat is not in use I can keep all 3 batteries charged. I have not bough a charger yet, maybe I will give it some more thought. Edit: After thinking this over, with the size, weight, and heat output of the charger (as well as the cost) I think it makes sense to just buy a 2 bank charger, I have a smaller charger i can use on the starting battery when the boat is sitting at home. Forgive me, for i am a retired engineer and I have to obsess over everything...
    • Congrats on the motor!  I think you’ll like it.   I can’t say much on the charger location but I’ve seen them under the lid in back compartments and under center rod lockers.  160 degrees is more than I expected to hear.   Curious why you’re opting for a 3 bank charger with a 24V trolling motor.  Unless you don’t feel you be running you big motor enough to keep that battery up as well?
    • I did buy an Minnkota Ulterra, thanks for the recommendations. I had a bunch of Cabela"s bucks saved up, which helped. Now i need to get an onboard battery charger. Where do you guys mount these things in your boat? The manufacturer I am looking at {Noco genius) says tht their 3-bank charger will run at 160 degrees, seems like a lot of heat in an enclosed compartment? Thanks for any input on this.
    • You're very lucky a troop of Sea Monkey's didn't carry you away.
    • Wasn't terrible at a state park beach. Antelope island maybe.  I wouldn't recommend it as a beach destination tho.  Figured I was there, I'm getting in it.
    • The water looked and smelled disgusting with hundreds of thousands of birds sh*tting in there.  About as gross as the Salton Sea. When I duck hunted there I didn't even want to touch the water.
    • It's kinda gross with the algae in the summer but I got in it anyway.  Wanted to see the increased bouyancy at work.  You can kinda tuck yourself into a ball and you'll just float with your head above water.  When dry off you look diamond encrusted with the salt.
    • We went to the flats too. I dipped a tire on the rental car onto it just to say I’ve been there, but it was still pretty soft from winter melt. After seeing some moron in a BMW suv get dragged out of the muck I had no intention of repeating his stupidity.
    • I've been out on the flats. It's like being on a different planet
