Just moved into ISU

I was wondering if there is anyone in the Ames area that might have some land that they would let me hunt phesants on this fall. Im a freshman (aka poor college kid) so I dont have much to offerer in terms of money, but I would be more than willing to do some work for you on the weekend.

There is a lot of state land about 2 hours north of ames around Mason City. It is Iowa, if you knock on a few doors and are polite, you will find some farmers willing to give you access. Have you bought your out of state license? 110 bucks for the small game license and 12 bucks for the habitat fee. You will be a lot poorer after that small purchase. Good luck at ISU, 2 of the greatest concerts I have ever seen were at ISU.

you should be able to get a resident license here in iowa now that you are going to school here. I have two buddies that go to waldorf in forest city they are from minnesota and they are able to get bow tags for deer and hunting licenses. You should be able to also. And i would take advantage of getting deer tags while you are at school becuase you will be considered a resident.

there is some public land around ames, boone, and colo that can be good during the week if you have a light day. i used to take gravel staight north to forest city. you get pretty good at spotting the green public hunting signs. tons of public land near iowaperch44 trust me.
