Wild Rice

Has anyone out there ever planted any wild rice? If so, how did you go about getting it and planting it. Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

I harvest rice each fall and have given raw rice to several friends to try to grow. To date, none have been successful. Seems if the body of water is not conducive to the rice, it just won't grow.
