Solitary Sanderling

This image was taken this week at Minnesota Point in Duluth,MN.

Unfortunately there was Peregrine Falcon about so the shorebirds were pretty skittish. This adult sanderling is transitioning in plumage from alternate to basic. Basically, the bird would tolerate my presence if I just peeked at it, but if I elevated my perspective above the rock between us, it would have taken off. So, I tried to get a little artsy by shooting "through" the rock. Here is the best of that effort.

SonyA300, Tokina80-400mm, iso200, f10, 1/640, cropped, USM.

Comments and critiques always welcome.

Regards,

Shawn Zierman.
