Surround sound?

upnorth

Question

Just picked up a RCA 1000 Watt Dolby Surround sound system. How much should I expect to get in volume? I figured it should be enough to literally shake the windows, I don't get out of it what I get from the TV itself. Am I expecting too much? It sounds great but just no real volume.

And no they did have one setup to test it at the store.

So do you guys have the RCA Rt2770/2870 5.1-Channel, 1000-Watt Receiver or the RCA RTD258 1000-Watt Home Theater System with HDMI.

It almost sounds like they have some Lemons in there. A lot of bad reviews with symptoms like upnorths and some decent reviews like DTRO's!

RT2870 is the model I have and yes it could just be a lemon. We have to run to Duluth Sat so a trip to Best Buy in order. Should be able to test drive something there before we buy. That and we are upping the $$$. Not to what Whoaru has but about $400 anyhow. Shoulda have known better.

Good to hear yours works well Darren, could be a model difference or maybe they send the rejects to Wally World grin

Just a quick follow up. Bought a Sony and believe me the difference is amazing. Power is there, still not sure how they rate these new ones, but this is much better and yes the same hookup. Tuner works better, a multi disk DVD, more hookup options if I decide to make changes, and overall the extra $140 it cost me was work every red cent. Now you turn it on, turn it up you can feel the bass and you literally cannot be heard over it without screaming.

I doubt it came with a mic for autocalibration at that price. It probably has a test sequence that sends sound to each of the speakers for level/manual adjustment. Its pretty easy and should only take you a few minutes to do.
