toughguy
Can you trim back tomatoes? This is the first year I've grown them and they are going much bigger than I expected. One is blocking a pepper plant. Can I chop off a branch or 2 without any impact to the plant as a whole to get my pepper some sunlight? KEN W
Yes.....you most likely have indeterminate varieties. They won't stop growing until frost.A lot of people will takr out the suckers that grow where each leaf comes out of the main stem.Just pinch off what you don't want.If you want smaller plants, next year try some determinate ones. They will have the leader flower and get no larger.Plus they have a concentrated flush of fruit. DoubleLunger
Yes trim off most of limbs that don't have blossoms. This will allow nutrients to go to tomatoes.
