Tent Camping/Canoeing (Alexandria/St. Cloud/Brainerd/Willmar)

I am looking for suggestions for a place to camp on Fri-Sat either the 3rd or 4th weekend of July.

*I would like to be in the vicinity of Alexandria, St. Cloud, Willmar, or Brainerd.

*Have my own canoe and would like to bring it to fish panfish, bass, walleye, northerns, etc...

*Need tenting area with showers and flushing toilets.

*I have a state park pass.

*Hiking is a definite plus!

Any suggestions would be great, thank you!

My retired neighbor likes Sinclair Lewis Campground in Sauk Centre and Shady Rest near Glenwood.

The state parks in that area are pretty hard to get into unless you get there early in the week and score a first-come site. The upper campground at Lake Carlos is nice. It's just outside Alex.

I would second the Sinclair Lewis Campground. We have our camper there and really like it. The fishing is off a little this year.

There are plenty of lakes in the area that you can fish.
