yakfisher
Does anyone have any experience shooting this lens for faster action work? i.e. sports or BIF's If so, what types of sports or birds (how fast did the focus work)? I shoot Nikon, but this lens is available in multiple mounts and over $1000 less than the Nikon version. I'm trying to decide if I can get by using this for the time being or if I need to save up for the Nikon glass. Thanks in advance!
mmeyer
I can't tell you anything about the Tamron but I use the Sigma 70-200mm f2.8 and it's a great lens. I think I paid around $600 for it slightly used. I would guess Tamron wouldn't be much different but I can't say for sure.
HawgTide
I have this lens in the Sony mount. It is faster (auto focus wise) than the Sigma 70mm f2.8 lens. The Sigma might have an edge on sharpness, but both are very nice and well worth the money saved, IMHO. I don't shoot fast action subjects, so I can't be of specific help. But I'm sure the Nikon is faster at AF than either the Tamron or Sigma, as my Sony lens are faster too, but the gap is closing.
