Team Otter
Just returned from three hard days of fishing in NE South Dakota. Man, was it nice to be back in that area. I sure miss it. We had great success catching 15 - 19" fish trolling crank baits ~2.5 mph in 7 - 9' of water and some big girls showed up in the evening hours casting crank baits in 2 - 5' of water. Most fish we caught casting hit near boat-side. What a rush! Enjoy a few photos from our trip. The bite is ON! 19"er trying to hide in the timber... Dave S
Nice fish Jamison.Question for you since you mentioned many of the fish hit boat-side.Do you think it's the change of elevation with the lure that causes a fish to strike that close to the boat or even shore for that matter. I've seen it many times but never really put much thought into why fish do it.
Team Otter
Thanks.Change in direction and/or elevation plays a big role, no doubt. And these fish, when chasing like that, are darn hungry and will do whatever it takes to get what they want. However, I don't know that there's a definitive answer to the question.
