BoxMN
Yeah, not sure why as I am not mechanic, but when I put in new impeller (just the impeller, but since I always get the whole kit when I do them) it worked perfect after that. I didn't touch anything else.Good luck, not saying this is it, but hopefully it might be.
marine_man
Have you tried running your motor on a separate tank (besides the built in tank on your boat) and see if that changes anything?marine_man
toonfish
Have not tried that- good point- this would eliminate that it is not bad gas, or the plastic shavings I mentioned earlier(is that what you are getting at Marine Man)? I did end up taking it back to the shop today, because the shop that worked on it earlier this year agreed to check the codes again for free. I also called Mercury and they suggested the shop using a remote starter? to troubleshoot a MAP sensor, MAT sensor and the computer(forgot the name for the computer). marine_man
That's correct... I'm trying to isolate the fuel tank at this point. You're kind of in a tough spot, as the shop doesn't seem to have much luck finding the issue, but I'd try and see if you can convince your mechanic to contact Mercury's help line and have him talk to them directly... some places are open to that and others are not... but good luck!marine_man
toonfish
Wow! This is now fixed and after going through all of this...issue was so simple. I went in to another Marina to buy a new impeller. The place said to try one more thing before I spend the time and money. Can't believe it was this simple and sorry if this is a huge oversight on my part....but all I had to do was take the tube off of the "pee hole" and blew air through it and it has ran perfectly ever since. HE said that Mercs always pull sand and stuff and the tube from the intake to the "pee hole" gets partially clogged. I guess this is why I only got the alarm at low RPM....at high RPM the water had enough force to plow around the clog???? Thanks for all the help. I am happy it was such a easy fix this time. harvey lee
Great to hear. Typically I hook up a hose to my motor every so many trips and backflush the motor incase any material is hung up in the pee hole.
