Hey ya'll,

I have not heard too much about Mozingo lately in any of my readings online. Does anyone have a walleye report (or crappie) from any recent trips.

Does anyone know any of the hot walleye spots for the early summer and mid summer bite. Is it similar to every other lake around here, mainlake points and flats with a variety of baits depending on the day.

Just curious, any hints will help.

Good job guys and good reports. I was there on Saturday from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm with my brother. We cleaned 34 most of them were 10 -11-1/2 inches. Blue/whit tube jig in the tree tops in the mid lake area. Looks like I need to get down by the dam if the big ones are biting down there. Jackb, what kind of structure were you fishing? 16 in fish is a toad.

These are crappie fisherman. Several good reports about crappie and bass, but no walleye!

Any current updates on Mozingo?

I am thinking about coming up there this weekend for a day. Since I have still never fished it do you have any good hints on where to try for walleyes or crappies? Any specific baits that are hot up there now?

Partner and I have been laid up lately. Him with colon problems and me with a hernia so we haven't been there for over a month. mad Evenings trolling by the dam have been the best spot.

Found this on a crappie forum.

Fishing has been hot and cold up there this spring. With all the rain the lakes been up and down as well as pretty dingy sometimes. I live about 40 miles from there and we've had 7-1/2" of rain the last two nights! I haven't been up there for a couple weeks but plan on trying again maybe this weekend; bad conditions or not. I'll probably try the brush piles and deeper water along the channel.

Thanks for the quick responses guys. I apprecaite the feedback as I may not make the drive up there then with all this rain we have been getting. I may just keep trying the old standby lakes closer to KC, or maybe venture out in to Kansas some more. Good luck fishin fellas. Finns I hope you get to feeling better and your partner too.

      As a recovering machinist, I can appreciate that.  If the spec is 0.001 - 0.0015, then clearly the correct measurement is 0.00125, duh…

      I just figured that it is easy enough to just get a 3 bank so when the boat is not in use I can keep all 3 batteries charged. I have not bough a charger yet, maybe I will give it some more thought. Edit: After thinking this over, with the size, weight, and heat output of the charger (as well as the cost) I think it makes sense to just buy a 2 bank charger, I have a smaller charger i can use on the starting battery when the boat is sitting at home. Forgive me, for i am a retired engineer and I have to obsess over everything...

      Congrats on the motor!  I think you’ll like it.   I can’t say much on the charger location but I’ve seen them under the lid in back compartments and under center rod lockers.  160 degrees is more than I expected to hear.   Curious why you’re opting for a 3 bank charger with a 24V trolling motor.  Unless you don’t feel you be running you big motor enough to keep that battery up as well?

      I did buy an Minnkota Ulterra, thanks for the recommendations. I had a bunch of Cabela"s bucks saved up, which helped. Now i need to get an onboard battery charger. Where do you guys mount these things in your boat? The manufacturer I am looking at {Noco genius) says tht their 3-bank charger will run at 160 degrees, seems like a lot of heat in an enclosed compartment? Thanks for any input on this.

      Wasn't terrible at a state park beach. Antelope island maybe.  I wouldn't recommend it as a beach destination tho.  Figured I was there, I'm getting in it.

      The water looked and smelled disgusting with hundreds of thousands of birds sh*tting in there.  About as gross as the Salton Sea. When I duck hunted there I didn't even want to touch the water.

      It's kinda gross with the algae in the summer but I got in it anyway.  Wanted to see the increased bouyancy at work.  You can kinda tuck yourself into a ball and you'll just float with your head above water.  When dry off you look diamond encrusted with the salt.

      We went to the flats too. I dipped a tire on the rental car onto it just to say I’ve been there,but it was still pretty soft from winter melt. After seeing some moron in a BMW suv get dragged out of the muck I had no intention of repeating his stupidity.
