Burnham
last night my parents told me that a family friend nearly died on mille lacs fri night/sat mornin. he was out in a larger 16 footer(he is one of those guys thats on mille lacs a bit) anways him and his buddy hit a big wave and when his buddy turned around he was no longer there. he managed to find him and throw a rope and our friend managed to tie a rope around himself. long story short, he wasnt able to get into the boat but his fishing partner managed to hold him up out of the water and sorta on the side of the boat, but couldnt let go to start the motor. after yelling for help for 30 minutes people heard (they had drifted) and helped him into the boat(at this point they thought he had possibly died). he was rushed into the hospital and his body temperature had fallen to 90 degrees, anwyays he is out of the hospital and from what ive heard he's recovering well...just another reminder to be safe out there

Sandmannd
Agreed, you can never be safe enough. I hate to hear stories like this. Wear your life jackets and don't go out alone. On water like that, it's a good idea to have your cell as well as a marine radio. Glad it all worked out for him. With that low of body temp, it's going to take some time to get back to normal. gunflint
Another guy on the St Louis River this afternoon hit a rock and was ejected. He landed on shore and is in the hospital. Things can go south in an instant.
