DRH1175
I have a 97 honda foreman. It fires up right away but after running for about 1 min it kills and will not run or start again until after it has sat for a hour. I bought a carb kit and am going to rebuild the carb. The previous owner I belive only used this atv once a year for deer hunting and let it sit the rest of the time. I am suspecting it is just totally gummed up. Am I right? Dave S
I think you're on the right track. Sitting that long without much care or operation(previous owner), that carb has got to be gummed up.
Macgyver55
Dont overlook checking flow from the fuel tank petcock first. There is a chance that could be restricted, but it is likely the needle and seat are the problem.
DRH1175
Thanks, Well I took it all apart and there was a little green gunk in the bowl but not really too much. Overall I thought it looked pretty clean. I put in another needle and cleaned the float and jets. It runs without any hesitation now.
