Spooky Crows

Did you put an owl decoy out?
They attack them. Try finding an old fur garment of some kind and put some silky red cloth on it to make it look like bloody meat.
They love that, and black garbage bags without the garbage of course!
Also put some crow decoys around these items to make it look like they are feeding there!
Good Luck!!! grin.gif

Anybody know any ways to get the crows closer. Went out last night . They all seem to come for the sound but as soon as they get closer they do a U-turn go right back where they came from. Although we did end up getting three of them.

So what type of cover do u hunt crow in(farms, woods, fields), and what kind of layout do u use. Also what do u do with em? Crow hunting has always interested me, but I have never done it. Just curious

You have to scout for them just as you would geese in fields. Find some flying around and look for there roosting area and set up in any cover that is most convienient.
They don't usually roost in any particular area or tree so you have to look for them.
Put your owl decoy on a fence post with a couple crow decoys sitting on the ground next to the fence post.
I take my old boom box that I camo spray painted and put on a crow tape and turn it on real loud and call on my crow call too.
It's best to hunt in the early morning so you can put on some camo clothes on and not have to put bug spray on exposed skin. Plus you won't sweat to death because it is usually a lot cooler in the morning. And they move around more in the early morning than later on in the day!
Good Luck!

We use a brown burlap sack with some red pait sprayed on it (blood). We use this to carry decoys around and then use it in the field to act as "road kill." We also use the burlap road kill sack to cover the e-caller device/speaker. 3 - 6 decoys work great. Place them in/around the road kill bag, turn on the e-collar and take cover. Best tapes are with owl/crow fighting. Owl decoy also is also a must in addition to the road kill and crow decoys. Sometimes, with warry crows, set up farther away from the caller/decoys for better pass shooting. Like fox/coyote hunting - in MN, ....basically,... once you shoot, you have to move. ...Crows are smart!! Winter hunting seems easier, and less hassle than summer too. Good luck.
