Custom Fishing Rod

I was just wondering if anyone out there has made their own custom rod from scratch. If so, could you give me a couple tips on how to start out and what I all need. Thanks!

you might want to look into cabelas tacle craft catalog... there is everything you need to make your "custom" rod in there.

If you are looking at getting started, I would suggest checking out your local community education program and see if someone is offering a rod building class.

I am currently in such a class right now. We meet for 2 hours in the evening for 6 days at the local high school. Class registration for me cost $25 and rod building supplies ran me about $98. (Supplies with vary depending on what kind of rod you choose to build)

Its nice having an experienced instructor there to show you how to do each step and answer questions. Definately a lot of little steps to do. Plus I get a sweet custom rod that built to my specifications.
