wakeguy
Ok I feel like an one-who-thinks-I-am-silly for asking but I finally spent a day tip up fishing. I usually jig or bobber fish. I was using quick strike rigs and the other two guys were using a single hook. I had twice as many missed hook sets as the other guys. Should I be hooking the front hook in the mouth and the back hook by the dorsal fin or the front hook by the dorsal fin and the back hook in the tail? How do you guys do it? bmc
I put the end treble between the smelt's dorsal fin and head. The second treble goes near the tail of the smelt. I usually set the hook when the fish stops taking line. Very few misses. I used trebles on the smaller side, I can't get over the "meat hooks" that are on the commercially made QS rigs.Brian
wakeguy
I think I've been hooking them backwards. I was putting the one closer to the tip up on the head and the end treble toward the tail
