LONG LAKE OFF #12 ORONO?

HAS ANYONE TRIED ICE FISHING LONG LAKE "ORONO" IN THE PAST COUPLE YEARS?? HOW WAS THE OUTCOME??

Long Lake orono? Where's that? Are you talking about the one in New Brighton? If you are I am heading there today in this horrid weather to try my luck, I will report back later.

No he is talking about the one off Highway 12 (keep going west on 394 past wayazata and it changes names) and there is a Lake on the right (long lake), and I beleive the little city just past the lake is called Long Lake.

Good luck to you on the one in New Brighton!

And to answer the question I have never fished it or heard of much of any fishing on there, good question it will be interesting to see what others say

I haven't fished it for years, and never on the ice. We never caught much there outside of 1 really nice pike and a few small bass.

I AM GOING TO TRY IT EARLY ICE.. FOR NORTHERNS.. HOPEFULLY GET A COUPLE "CABBAGE CRUISERS" TO BREAK THE SCALE !! AND C.P.R. OPPERTUNITIES.. CATCH PHOTOGRAPH RELEASE HAVE FUN THIS FALL AND WINTER GUYS..

I've never fished it in the summer but hit it every year early ice kitty corner on the point from the main landing and have done well on some nice pike, I can not make it this year,too much to tend to here good luck.Pike is the only fish I've caught on that lake.But I never caught any scale breakers.

    • The front 2 are bent so sharp they actually curve in
    • Thanks guys.  He was h act for sure, almost 23.  Beard was right at 9 and spurs almost an inch. Pics and write up will come tomorrow if I have time.
    • Last few years we've just been doing the cabin rental. Much better. Nope always went from place to place just couldn't justify seasonal prices and having to be there basically every weekend to make it worth it. Yes indeed very nice setup leech!
    • If you have disability permit you are good to go for the whole season
    • we gave it up 2 1/2 years ago after 13 years of doing the permanent site thing. said we go to different places and tent it or rent cabins.but that didn't happen either yet. not sure I care to go back to the tent. our family does have a cabin up in Itasca county so that helps!!!! do you go from place to place or set at a permy spot ALWAYS!!!!!!!! nice set up leech. must be to early to plug in da beer frig though!!!!!!!!!
    •   Well I think this camper can handle a little cold weather with the forced air system. But, I will be playing with my new Birthday toy I just got from my kids tomorrow on my day off. Not sure what to smoke yet? But some meat will be in there!
