Dock Boy
Hello Guys, I'm looking to find the best lake to go to for Trophy Lake Trout. I'm an avid ice fisherman and live near the MN border. I'm looking for a trophy Lake Trout lake to make one trip a year. I'm strictly catch and release and don't mind driving long distances to find them. I'm portable with otter and bear cat sled. Not looking for 6-10 pound fish, but 15-30 plus pound fish. Where can a guy go in the winter to find these monsters? Thanks for any help that you can provide! prov1900
Minnitaki, near Sioux Lookout has a number of trout, and the size you are looking for. Never fished in winter, but our spring trips have yielded nothing less than 15 lbs. I hear ice fishing there can be awesome. On my bucket list for sure. fishnut2
Far western bay of Lake of the Woods is catch and release only for lakers and from what the CO in Kenora tells me, 20 lb fish are not uncommon.
