Gordie
I've seen some jumbo grasshoppers that I thought about using for bait, but I honestly think they might be better for walleyes than catfish. I haven't tried them out. To me, it doesn't seem like the quantity of juice and scent from a grasshoper would be enough to attract the attention of a fish that is looking for food in turbid, murky water, primarily using scent. What little bit of juice and meat a grasshopper does have seems more well suited for walleyes in slightly cleaner water, where they can home in on it via sight and decide after chomping on it whether it tastes good or not (hopefully before I set the hook). I forgot the waxies one time for catching creek chubs so we caught a few hoppers and man to the creek chubs love those hoppers. We use just pieces of the bouncy critters and before long the bucket was full of chubs.
