You'd be hard pressed to tell the difference between a Galaxy CB radio and a 10 meter, they are almost identical. The FCC HSOforum as quite the collection of CB shops getting busted for doing these types of mods. On the CB band, the legal power is 4 watts AM, 12 watts SSB.

On a good skip night I can pick up truckers in Texas on my handheld in Blaine. If you try to run 200+ amps from a base station with a huge Yagi antenna, the FCC may pay you a visit.
