South Metro Paddling Destinations?

Are there any smaller rivers that are navigable around the south metro? I paddled a small stretch of the Vermillion on Saturday, beginning at the Mississippi, and ending about a mile later at a huge log jam. I'm a little apprehensive to take on the the big rivers this early in the year. What are your favorites?

I have done minnehaha creek a couple of times, that is always interesting...

I would start up stream further. Interested in streams and rivers only? small great small lakes and ponds around. cannon is south of the vermillion, also a good option. Lots more traffic on that one

We ended up floating the Cannon River from east of Cannon Falls to Welch yesterday, and had it to ourselves. Awesome float!

We've also been on some small lakes around Eagan and Apple Valley, but the rivers are more fun.....Thanks for the replies.
