How can I get my dog to run straight lines. Today we were out working on blinds, and she wants to run these big loopy lines then come back in the mark from the side. On the shorter ones she will run straight, but on anything over 60yards she runs to the left then comes back to the mark. Of course we are doing this on a soccer field so she can see them. But in the field she wouldn't be able to see and I would be forced to handle her back to them. Any ideas?

Here is what my trainer told me to do. Staple a white paper plate to a wooden stake. Start at about 50 yards. Walk your dog out to the stake, sit her down a few yards away drop a couple of white bumpers while saying dead bird. Walk back to the 50 yard marker, sit her down and while lining her up with your hand say dead bird then send her. After you feel she is comfortable at that distance then move back to 100 yards. Continue to add about 25-50 yards until you get to the 200-250 yard mark. It might take a month or it might take you 2 weeks. She well start to get the idea that she is to go on a straight line until you stop her.
No collar correction is to be used during this drill. You are teaching her what you want her to do.

GOOD LUCK!!
