Lazy Jeep...

In the past few days my Jeep has quit running while I am driving, it has done it 4 times now. I will be driving and then loose all power, after coasting to a stop the vehical will turn over but will not start, after a few minuetes it starts right up and runs fine, another time (on the highway Sunday night, I lost power, RPM's dropped, and then before I could pull over it started back up all on it's own. One time it killed while I was at a stop sign, once in town while driving ~30, one time on the highway at ~60, and the first time was on the lake driving fairly slow.

Any thoughts as to what could be wrong.

It's a 1994 Jeep Grand Cherokee, 4.0L with 160K miles.

My first thought would be a crank sensor.

I just have to ask , when you say "loose all power", do you mean just the engine stopped running or you lost all electrical power?

Yep, I would bet crank sensor also. Notorious!

crank sensor,my cousins car did it all the time,he finally got a different vehicle because it cost to much to replace

3 of the 4 times it shut off completely, one time (the time it started back up) it seemed like only electrical power was lost.

So, seems like a unanimous thought, what am I looking at for repair costs here?

$60-$130 at your local NAPA for the part.
