Is it typical for this unit to not have much of a base map for Canada? I was playing around with my new gps and only the lower half of Lac Seul is shown on the unit.

if youre using a mapping chip you should have detail as long as the area you're in is included on the chip. otherwise no. cross the border and its like theres nothing there.

I also have the southern portion of Lac Seul on my h20's base map, shorelines and islands only, no hazards or Nav aids or contours.

If you want to get a map card for Lac Seul I think your options are the Navionics Hotmaps --- both the '08 Canada chip and the '09 Canada chip have Lac Seul. I've never used them on Lac Seul so I'm not sure how good they are.
