new lowrance hd locators

Question

has any one heard anything about or have any experience with these? im getting a new locator for my new boat ,but im a little gunshy of lowrance with all the problems they have had the last couple years. or should i just buy a humminbird? if im going to drop $700 to a $1000 on a locator i want it to work.

The new units look great and have some outstanding features and displays. The broadband sounder (ie. digital data) and the 83/200 khz transducer is supposed to take care of the shallow water / weed issues that the software updates caused in the LCX and LMS units. I haven't seen them on the water yet but from the little I've heard from guys that are using them already is that they work great.

No problems here. Don't be afraid of Lowrance. But buy from a good local dealer and you'll be set.

The new HDS units also have a 2 year warranty.
