Lake Trout in March & Other ?s

Recommended Posts

Greetings All,

Looks like we'll be heading up to Nym Lake next weekend to try our hand at some late season ice.

Couple of quick questions for the experts:

Any tips on lake trout? Baits, minnow size, depths? We're thinking that they should be in shallower water adjacent to where we've found them in the spring, is that right?

How's the lake ice in the area? Drivable? Snow cover?

Any info would be appreciated! Thanks!

The lakes I fish, the bigger trout are on sand flats and feeding on perch. Yellow or chartruese tubes work good during this time. They will also be in the traditional spots on the rock shelfs in 30-50 fow adjacent to steep drops to deep water. If you don't have any action in 30 minutes, move. The key to doing well on lakers is move, move, and move to find the active fish.
