Guess the sky isn't falling after all. Although by the post above you can see that the ones who have the most to loose were yelling the loudest against what might happen. Way to funny, you worry about your land access more than the game being hunted!

I think they are considering offering over the counter tags in zones with 50 tags per season, for the last 2 seasons if you failed to draw, I personally don't have a problem with this plan as now its pretty easy to get a tag for the last seasons. We should be happy that the turkey population is growing and someday mabye we won't have to limit hunters at all.

Now that makes more sense although I would prefer to just leave it alone.

Primary driver here is cash generation for the DNR. More hunters generates more dollars.

The woods is filled out (leaves) through most of turkey range by the last two draw periods. I would question safety on public land! Inexpereinced turkey hunters would be cause for even more concern.

Why would the people who select the last two time periods by choice to ensure getting to go or by effort (2nd chance) be penalized by increased hunting pressure? Although I suspect that participation rate (percentage of hunters actually going out) on the last two seasons maybe lower.

I have had two children be successful on their 1st lottery draw where the success rate is 40%. Interesting and raises an eyebrow of preference ??
