Selling Carp

So do you guys think I would be able to bring some to the local outdoor markets and be able to sell a cpl. Just want to be able to get enough $ for a new setup. Haven't been able to get a new rod and reel for a few years kids and mortgage really puts a dent in spendin money. I thought this might be an alternative

Trying to sell carp to Minnesotans sounds hard to me.

I give them to the Rabis SPL?? They enjoy them once when I dropped some off at there house they were cooking some and I tried it and well hate to say it it was not bad but not something I would do very often just cause I know what it is

Well these are not your native Minnesotans. The markets around here are very diverse.

Regarding the food show: Normally I leave this channel to my wife, but I watched this and was absolutely fascinated.

Just saw on Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives on the Food Network last night that there is a restaurant in Omaha, Nebraska that specializes in deep fried carp. It said they go through 3000 fish a week and they get them shipped in live from lakes all over the Midwest. The people really seemed to be enjoying the fish.

I saw that too, after the fish was cleaned they put scores in it all down the fillet, and people sure were scarfing them down breaded and deep fried.

As previously mentioned, carp were brought here for one reason..... food. Fast growing and tasty protein. I have given lots of carp away to mainly Latino and SE Asian folks, although I have seen more than a few Eastern European carp anglers filling their larders. I have never asked for money, but I suppose if someone offered me a few bucks for one I wouldn't refuse. I talked with one guy who said he routinely sold them to some of his SE Asian angler buddies for a couple of bucks a pound.

When I find a good dependable source of smaller carp from cold clean water I look forward to smoking them. Until then I'll just enjoy catching them.
