washer hopping

Recommended Posts

Does it have the storage drawer underneath? That adds some felxibility to the entire setup. They are known to vibrate more than the old style washers, they spin a lot faster. The other thing I've seen they make are a type of solid rubber pads to put under the legs to dampen the vibration. I don't know if they work or not, but the maker claims they do. Also, if it just sits on th elegs and not the drawer, make sure the legs are turned down as much as possible so the washer sits as close to the floor as possible, will cause less flex in the legs.

Front loaders should be on a load bearing wall above grade due to the flex in plywood...it just acts as a spring. Since the load spins up and down instead of side to side, floor stability is very important. There is really no way to fix it unless you have access to the floor from below, which it sounds like you don't. There are braces that can be put in to strengthen the floor.

I have heard of the mats. Sounds like they help a little, but isn't a true fix. Another way to lessen the vibration is to make sure you are doing a full load every time. There will be less of a chance that the load will be unbalanced.

It sits on one of those drawers that they say are a must to have, I sure cant remember were we stored our soap and softener before this big old piece of misery came along. I will have to look into the heavier duty legs if they have them.
