Snowshoe Repair

titelines

Question

Hi All,

I have a pair of snowshoes that are in need of repair. They are actually in great shape, and with the price of new ones, I'd prefer to fix these.

The problem is my bindings are broken. They are an older strap style, with leather pieces that the strap is threaded through. The leather is old enough that it has broken a couple times when I've tightened the straps. A plastic piece also broke recently.

I'd love to get a new pair of quick on, quick off bindings on these.

Is it possible to replace the bindings? If so, where could I take these?

Thanks!

You can buy just the bindings at almost any outdoor store. The ones on there should just come right off and new ones (of which there are MANY different kinds) should be just as easy to put back in place.

I'll let someone with more experience tell you what type they prefer but the rubber inner tube looking ones seem to work real good for me.

Go to an outdoor store that deals with snowshoes. There are several types of bindings you can go with. Leather will stretch and rot out eventually and the rubber style works great but rubber will break down over time also and then they will just break. Do a google search and you'll come up with a place on Lyndale Ave.
