bisekb
So my 03 Chevy Silverado is making a growling noise coming from the driver side front area. My ABS light also came on. It seems to get worse if i turn a certain direction, mainly right. Could this be a wheel bearing, or ball joint, or do i got bigger problems?? Any one have any clues. Macgyver55
Most likely a wheel bearing.

Jeremy airjer W
Did anybody mention wheel bearing? Most likely the left one.

crothmeier
I remember there being a recall on something with an ABS sensor in chevy pickups. Im not sure about that year, but was covered in my 2000. Might be worth asking about so they check into it.
Jeremy airjer W
That had to due with corrosion causing excessive gap between the sensor and the exciter. This is different than the wheel bearing going bad.
crothmeier
Yeah, I read though that the ABS light went on, being that they are in there for the wheel bearing, might be worthwhile to have them check that also. Would the ABS light go on becasue of a bad wheel bearing? Mine didnt on my 2000 when I had a bad wheel bearing
Jeremy airjer W
It depends on the nature of the failure. If it is noisy but tight it may not effect the abs at all. If it is sloppy than there can be issues with the gap the sensor needs to work properly and would turn on the light.
