What is usually the best time of year for catching good numbers of eagles? I know nothing is predictable in stone but what is usually a good time frame as my 5 year old loves watching and photoing them.

Are the rough numbers tracked on their site? I couldn't really find anything when checking around. Thanks, Dave

Is that the one is Wabasha? The fall migration is usually October - December. I would think the spring migration would be starting as soon as it starts to warm up here a bit, maybe mid March. I haven't paid a lot of attention to the spring migration. But if your interested in seeing a few, March/April would probably be a good time, otherwise next fall.

I just came thru Wabasha and Red Wing today, on the round about way back from Rochester. I saw 2 in a tree along the pull over spot by Read's Landing and 4 or 5 at Colville Park, but nothing close enough for a good picture. The ones by Read's Landing were close enough, but the sun had set behind a hill so there was no light. It's a bit early for the spring migration. My best eagle shots to date, were shot on March 11 of last year. However, there weren't many around, but the ones that were, were very cooperative. I'm thinking of heading back in a couple weeks. I'm hoping the spring migration will have started by then. March is usually the month.

Here is a link to the Eagle Center where you can find counts. However, they don't keep up on it very well. The last count was Jan. 31. I have found that it's best to give them a call in advance. http://www.nationaleaglecenter.org/

Good luck.
