Burning out a glasspack?

Any tricks to burning out a glasspack thats already installed on my truck?

A bunch of ideas come to mind, but none of them are safe. Just curious why would you want to do that? Its gonna be pretty choppy and poppin a lot. You would be better off cutting it out and just doing the straight pipe thing.

If you leave them alone they will burn out on their own in less then a year. There are ways to speed up the process, but they would be ilegal to do, and may not be really safe.

First off, a lot of the newer glasspacks are almost impossible to burn out because the packing has been improved for one. A lot of the newer ones have a baffle inside that is just as tough as the shell of the muffler making it pretty much impossible for the packing to come out. (I worked at exhaust pros for a couple years so loud exhaust is something I still hold near and dear )

I would highly recomend just cutting it out and putting in a straight pipe. It would be quicker and safer than trying to burn it out. As long as you dont mess with the catalytic convertor your still going to be legal, just with the chance of getting a noise ticket (not cheap, like 150$).

personal note, the cops love to hand out those tickets. We had plenty of people come in and get straight pipes and come back in a week to get at least a glasspack put in because they got a ticket.)

IMO i would take the glasspacks out and put high flow cats, sounds better when you tromp on it IMO. other than just driving it idk how else you could break in you glasspacks?

Torch will do it ! they will not look pretty when done, just repaint.
