Out on Balsam last night, 2-12" walleyes,2 bass and 1 northern. Pretty slow, but it was a post card evening out there. Get out and enjoy these days while you still can, not many left for this year. Next stop Big Round. Good luck

Spin,

I would be interested on how you do on BRL. I have a cabin there but usually spend my weekends in the fall chasing birds. The boat is still on the lift and I could be coerced to chase the finned quarry if the bite is good and the weather isn't great for the ducks.

I know early ice great so I would imagine the fall is good as well.

Thanks,

WG

I'll be out tomorrow. I wanted to give it more than just a couple hours after work. So I'll be out there from noon on. Sounds like it might be a little cold. I'll be fishing bass, crappies whatever during the day {I'm Not picky}, then switch to just walleyes during the evening. I'll post how I do. Good luck.

2 small walleyes, a few crappies and thats it. Very cold, very windy. Water temp was 57.I think the cold front shut them down in that shallow lake. There was plenty of shooting the duck hunters were having fun. Next stop Wappo. Good luck

I was on a private pot hole a couple miles from Big Round lake. I got 4 on Saturday afternoon. Never saw a duck until 4:00 pm. I was in a place that I could get burned easily and I got burned multiple times. I was hunting alone so one set of eyes (plus the dog) made it tough. I ended up with 2 drake mallards, a widgeon and a teal.

Fanning on 20 mallards coming into the decoys didn't help my tally. I also blew it on a couple flocks of teal that can crashing into the decoys. I was impressed with the number of birds I saw on Saturday.

Sunday 100-200 ducks left 15 minutes before shooting. None came back which surprised me.

I will give it a shot again this weekend.

Do you want to partner up?
My Place is in webster which is only about 45min away?
One word of caution though. I have a 8 month old lab that is really good for his age(never sqirmmy listens and stays well but can take a little longer on retrieves than he should, a little playing on the way in sometimes.)
I have 2 dozen mallards, 4 feeding mallard, 2 floating geese, one feeder goose and a mojo for decoys.

Mudman,

There has been a change of plans. I won't be heading to the cabin this weekend as there is a family event I need to attend. Next weekend I will be chasing MN pheasants. Once I know I will be back in WI I will shoot you a note.

I have a 5 year old black who is an unbelievable upland dog (pointer) and just an average waterfowler. He gets more work with pheasants than ducks though.

Good luck.

What a great evening it was to be fishing on Saturday. Was out on Wappo, kept 8 crappies and 3 walleyes. The crappies were hitting the walleye jigs before they would hit bottom.Caught a few smaller walleyes also. We were jigging and rigging on the west side by Liberty Beach. Depending on the weather next stop Yellow. Good luck

was on devils sunday night, not much happening yet. lots of green weeds still.
did manage half a dozen 11" crappies plus the usually 20 bass, so I was happy.
Thinking of going to yellow this weekend as well. this would be my first time. I like all kinds of fish musky, walleye, smallies, crappies, what would be my best bet at yellow?
any tips/suggestions

Thanks guys!

i'd say either musky or walleye. or crappie. yellow is a good lake, and a good sized lake. good luck. if you're looking for help from a bait store, i wouldn't suggest the one in webster (not to name names), but instead try the log cabin store in danbury, or big mikes at the clam lake narrows east of siren.

dan do you mean the gas/bait stores or the one thats got the nice for sale by owner sign. either way don't worry I went to each of those once this year and won't go back!

I usually run up to danbury across from the native american fund rasing center!

If you could email me some tips I could trade you for some gps spots on mille lacs or red or LOTW? [email protected]

This is my plan, I'll be trying by the narrows where it goes from Little to Big Yellow. There's a hump over there, then the east side from Jeffires landing to Ike Waltons. Jigging, rigging and trolling. Don't be scare to go shallow cause at first ice{and it won't be long} those eyes are up in about 5ft of water.Good Luck

Couldn't wait till Saturday. Went out on Balsam last night, what a beautiful night to be on the lake, to bad the fish didn't think so,1 small walleye, 1 even smaller bass. The water is still pretty warm for this time of year. Good luck

I'll be out on Yellow tomorrow night and then back to Yellow or Big Saturday. I'd hook up with you Mudman but I will only be on the lake after dark. I'll be by myself trolling with a headlamp for light if we pass each other. Anyone try Big Mc recently?

Good luck this weekend!

Sorry it took so long for my report, Yellow was a bust very windy, had to work to hard to control the boat. Have been out on Balsam and Half Moon but can only find the small ones. Saturday I'll be off to the St.Croix above the dam, can always find some place calm to fish there. Good luck

Well Saturday was a misirable day rain and cold. Got a few smallies nothing big, but fun. I think if the weather was alittle better I could have got more. When I got back to the landing a guy gave me the standard line "Should have been here last weekend. " Isn't that always the case.Oh well that's why they call it fishing. Good luck

I was out on Goose lake on Sunday over in MN. Saturday I was on the river. It was the 16th that I was last on Yellow. I don't know if I should be the one giving out tips, I just try my best. But I like the east side from Jeffries landing up to Ike Waltons, I usally start out rigging work the break up to about 6-7 ft. Then I try around the cribs on the north shore. I troll alot also, when the wind is up. It's a good lake if you happen to hook in to a sturgeon there a blast. Good luck
