Got out last week for the first time on Lake Michigan and trolled for some salmon. Got 3 nice kings. Used dipsy's with flasher/fly combos in 200 FOW. Lost one steelhead in 125 FOW on a dodger spoon on a planner board also.

From what I'm hearing, fish are moving in shallower and are stagging for the spawn. Less than 100 FOW is producing well. Most fish I've heard of being caught on on dodger fly combo's still but some spoon action is working as well. I had luck only in white and silver.

Good luck. I'm heading out Thursday or Friday weather holding!!!

Fished out of Kewaunee again this morning/noon. Got 3 kings again. All of my hits came before 10:30. Probably should have been there earlier as I was on the water at sunrise, but should have long since been out there.
Big Kings are moving in shallow and from a couple of charters I heard J-plugs in 20-30 FOW are pretty hot for big fish.

For numbers(which is what I did) and pretty much most everyone else, hit the 100-300 FOW. I realize it's a large range, but I caught fish in 100, 160, 180 FOW and saw LOTS of boats out deeper than that. I think riggers are important, but again, I used dipsy's and planners. All of my fish came on the dipsy's and all three on the same flasher! As with last week. I think I'm on to something!!!! Green/Glow
My fish were 2, 3 year olds and 1 2 year old with 4 smelt in his stomach.

Spoons were the key today!
