Ifinder H2O-adapter problems

A couple years ago I was trying to rig my cigarette lighter adapter to run off the locater battery with a female plug. I blew the fuse. Well, I'm sick of burning batteries now and wonder if anyone else has blown the fuse on their adapter. I called Lowrance and after being on hold for 35 minutes they told me to replace it w/ a 3 amp fuse (I've long since lost the old fuse to remember what size it was). It didn't work. I checked one unit at Gander and it is a 1.6 amp believe it or not that comes with that unit. Problem is I can't find the 1.6 amp in the larger size, only the smaller sizes. Anyone got any suggestions here? Seems to me the larger 3 amp fuse should work just fine. Maybe in trying to rig this up I fried the plug end and just need to replace it by doing the old splicey-dicey. Really would hate to think about dropping $30 on a new power cord.

I know they had some problems with the connection going into the GPS. I guess there was a point that needed solder or something. If it was a fuse and they told you a 3 amp would work, give it a shot. I'm pretty sure that a auto parts store would have the lower amp fuses too. Maybe see if they got a 1 or 2 amp available if you are concerned about frying it.
