Lunker
Well, I live here in the twin cities, but in a matter of months I'll be making the trip(4 yr) to UWSP for college. I am a avid fisher/hunter and don't want anything as little as school get in my way I was wondering what fishing opportunities exist around the city, especially those with possibilities of shore fishing/ice fishing, as well as any hunting opportunities, public land and the such. Pretty much any specie, I enjoy just about everything. Thanks
Crappie Catcher
Lots of fishing and hunting around there. George Mead Wild life area is very close, Excellent waterfowl/grouse/deer hunting. Eau Plaine flowage is close along with Lake Dubay, both are goood walleye, northern and panfish lakes.
can it be luck?
Lunker, as CC said, the Eau Pleine and the WI River and it's "lakes" that are formed by it are where most of your "local" fishing will take place. Both can be very good for multiple species. Check the thread in the WI forum "Life is like a box of chocolates", it contains fish from Dubay. Dubay is part of the WI River. The "Mead" wildlife area contains diked marshes that hold good concentrations of waterfowl.Besides the marshes other hunting opportunities exists. A short drive to the north will put you in some great fishing and hunting opportunities as well, too many to list! Tomahawk, Rhinelander, Minoqua, Eagle River, etc. are loaded with lakes and rivers that contain great fishing. As well as inland waters, lake Michigan provides great opportunties too. Trout, salmon, as well as warm water species abound.------------------http://groups.msn.com/canitbeluck
